North East Regatta 10 - 11 May 2025 Saturday - Full results (chronological and tree views)Saturday - winners names (Qualifying events marked) Sunday - Full results (chronological and tree views) Sunday - winners names (Qualifying events marked) Regatta programme (including names of all competitors) Lovely sunny weather on both days with a tailwind down the course. The wind was brisk on Saturday and did cause difficulties for some less-experienced crews near the Suspension Bridge. We managed to start and finish ahead of time both days and part of this efficiency was the generous helping of SR Umpires who volunteered to assist - many thanks to them. Saturday racing had two memorable events; The first was the final of the well-contested Masters Single Sculls event which featured the two oldest competitors (70 and 79 year of age). This battle of maturity produced a dead heat! The organisers did offer to award a medal to both, but the finalists elected for an immediate rerow and this was won by the younger contestant. He claimed to be the only winner of a 1400m race that day! The second memorable incident resulted when an experienced member of an ABC Womens 4+ caught a massive crab resulting in her ejection from the boat. Rescue services quickly got her to shore with some bruising the only physical injury in addition to her battered pride. She recovered well enough to race the following day using dark glasses to hide her dramtic black eye! Sunday had fewer dramas except for the relative rarity of ASRA not winning the Championship of the Dee award. Congratulations to ABC who achieved this.
