North East Regatta 2 - 3 May 2026 Saturday - Full results (chronological and tree views)Sunday - Full results (chronological and tree views) Winners Names (both days) with Qualifying and Novice Qualifying events marked Race Report On Saturday, favourable tides led to a comfortable 12 noon start of racing. The wonderful 'Regatta' programme (available to download on CofD website, if you want) allowed us to accommodate a full schedule of 4 minute racing (with a good lunch break) and still manage to finish ahead of time at 4:20pm. Thanks to the umpires from Scottish Rowing who kept the machine ticking over. The weather forecast for Saturday had been grim with heavy rain all afternoon. This had eased to predicted showers by morning of event and turned out to be a few desultory spots of rain in actuality. Mostly easy winds but the upstream wind ran against the outgoing tide later in the day causing a localised patch of rough water in the last 200m of racing. So, despite our straight course, above the Suspension Bridge the riverbank went from side to side, and below the QE Bridge it went up and down! It was good to see a small squad from Inverness RC on Saturday and they did manage to take some medals home. One bonus medal for our northern neighbours went to Steven Andrews of IRC when we decided to award a silver medal to the losing finalist in Open Nov 1x. This event was won by Simon Le Maitre of ABC who came top of the 16 entrants in this event. The Outstanding-Good-Sportsmanship award goes to an ASRA sculler in Wom R2 1x event. Her opponent, a Masters sculler from ABC, pulled a muscle during the race and the ASRA sculler stopped and asked if her competitor was OK (bless!) Things were tight for the Championship of the Dee points at end of Saturday with ASRA just in the lead with 97 points being seriously chased by ABC with 94. Sunday 3rd May (Star Wars eve) was a day of perfect racing conditions. Cool but no wind and lovely water throughout. Another full programme of 4-minute races ran entirely to time and indeed, finished several minutes ahead of planned. Some close races but no dramas or excitements. Thanks again to our umpires, volunteers, sponsors and all the competitors who worked together to ensure a successful event. Congratulations to Aberdeen Boat Club who won the Championship of the Dee trophy for the second year in a row after just overtaking the slender lead that ASRA had enjoyed at the end of Saturday's racing.
